Unsolicited Journalling (by & for a Chump)
Posted May 16th, 2012 by Layman Pascal
Normally I have an certain idea-feeling and aesthetic mood before I cast a post on this forum. Right now I do not. I will simply say what concerns me most today, right now. And I will even try not to delete this post tomorrow when I begin to criticize it from a stylistic point of view.... One hears it said that science is about maintaining a child-like sense of wonder and questioning those basic parts of reality which seem unquestionably ordinary to the conditioned... Read More

Stanley Is Unbalanced
Posted May 16th, 2012 by Stanley
There seems to be confusion around here that integral is about spineless wimps who are terrified of being judged of being unbalanced. The way I see it, our mission of waking up and growing up enough to be a blessing to the world is an inherent call to become unbalanced.... In the integral way we are called to make a commitment to work towards and achieve an overall tendency to choose (when possible); · The healthy over the... Read More

WWWDIA and the Allsville Online "space station"
Posted May 16th, 2012 by Darrell Moneyhon
Recall the popular WWJD? Christains wore it on wristbands. Many feel the second coming will be a collective manifestation of Christ (or the spiritual essence of what Christ stood for). What if something as simple as the proposed spiritually-principled model community of Allsville was one of the fronts of a second coming, and of a shift from civilization to spiritualization? ... In his new book, Evolutionary Enlightenment , Andrew Cohen, describes the likely steps of the cultural... Read More

Cindy's profile
Posted May 16th, 2012 by gillian ross
Great conversation. Surprised to see there is no profile for Cindy offered? Also would it be possible to post links to the organizations that she recommeded as being worth supporting ? I liked her integral approach to political activism and her emphasis on the necessity of a balance between reflection and activism . I was reminded of Andrew Harvey's sacred activism in that regard....

A few thoughts
Posted May 15th, 2012 by D Bridget Hanley
Great conversation! Really enjoyed listening. Would like to comment on the issue of representatives not getting paid if they don't pass budgets. . . I have a friend who has been in office for a number of years in Calif. where that law has been passed & there is the issue that there are people in office who don't need to be getting paid - their salary as a representative is relatively inconsequential in their financial life. So this sort of law gives them... Read More
If you are a taxi driver what do you think of driverless cars?
Posted May 15th, 2012 by Brendan LaChance
I'd just bring up a slightly different concern than David does about driverless cars. David talks about who owns the data that is collected from them.... A concrete problem if driverless cars do become the norm is what happens to all the people employed by the car-with-a-driver? I think it would be pretty cool to drive in cars that are autopiloted, but I would think differently if I were a taxi driver, for example, whose family depends on that income.... Other things to... CAN WISDOM BE DERIVED FROM SUFFERING? DISABILITY AS A CASE IN POINT
Posted May 15th, 2012 by Vivi Mari Carpelan
I'm sorry if this sounds harsh but I claim that it's not a very spiritual thing to say that suffering is pointless and that we should all just shape up. It's easy to condemn suffering. It's easy to say that nothing can be gained from suffering. It's easy to say that seeing anything useful in suffering is dwelling on negativity. However to me these are catch phrases that people throw about when they think they are soon going to be enlightened. i.e. in my view it's not... Read More

THE TREE OF LIFE IS NOT A GREAT MOVIE IMHO
Posted May 15th, 2012 by Vivi Mari Carpelan
I'm sorry I don't agree with the high acclaims. I listened to the review and expected something great, even though it was clear that one of the critics was hesitant. I wrote a short review myself as I'm part of a film club. It's not necessarily well phrased as I just couldn't be bothered to dig deeper... I didn't see anything to dig into. I didn't see an integral message. ... "This film has been hailed by some as being very spiritual in a deeper and non-denominational... Read More

... so hot - this brief journey, even as observer from a distant time and place.... She's so hot. So cool. OK, pink, perhaps. Or deep teal and infrared.... The awkwardness throughout. Watching, even; feeling my own awkwardneses, and many others' in the room, the latent collective awkwardness, maybe. Whew - juxta-felt and posed with the frickin' heat. If I had been there, I might not have survived the inner tension. I may not have arrived at local liberation invited. Though may... Read More
