A New Libertarianism

Classic Libertarianism champions the idea of individual liberty and freedom and prefers little to no government intervention. How are these libertarian principles preserved and transcended at a higher level of development? John Mackey, Chairman and CEO of Whole Foods Market, a self-proclaimed Libertarian, has some ideas. Personal choice should be balanced and checked at the level of development one is at, and choices should be made responsibly off of all that can be seen from that level. So, the higher up the evolutionary ladder you climb, and the more perspectives you can hold, the more you may not actually have full “freedom of choice,” because you're aware of your responsibility. Those choices that merely benefit the individual, those choices that do not take the system or others into account may become unfulfilling to those that understand all the variables at play.
