Pharmaceuticals and the Spiritual Path

American writer O. Henry once said, in regard to his relationship with alcoholism, that he "was born six drinks under par." In such irreverent wit we can discern a valuable lesson for any integral practitioner—many of us are born with certain genetic ailments and other health issues. In this video a participant asks Ken, "Is the use of pharmaceuticals and other drugs as a way to restore mental balance in any way "cheating" the game of evolutionary consciousness?" Ken responds by discussing the role of medicine and other pharmacological approaches to mental health, as it applies to developing through structures of consciousness as well as training various states of consciousness.
